Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has called on English football to ‘get rid of VAR’ after Dean Henderson escaped a red card despite being sent off 100%.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jordan Henderson came under fire during Saturday’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City after he was found guilty of handling the ball outside the area.
VAR reviewed the incident คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย and confirmed Henderson had handled the ball outside the area, but could not send the referee to the monitor to check for a booking or a possible free-kick.
The official concluded Henderson had not ruled out a clear goal-scoring opportunity, and that it was a decision based more on subjective judgment than handball.
After avoiding a red card, Henderson saved Omar Marmouc’s penalty to put Palace 1-0 up and secure the trophy.
While he admitted Henderson’s presence on the pitch might have helped the atmosphere, Rooney was furious and insisted it was “100 per cent a red card”.
Rooney said: “It’s a red card, 100 per cent a red card.
“Erling Haaland is going past him but Dean Henderson palms the ball away. It’s a red card. How can they get it wrong?”
Gary Lineker then read out a statement from VAR explaining why the referee did not give a red card. “The direction Erling Haaland was running made a possible, but not a clear-cut chance.” Rooney’s response was both heat and funny.
“Get rid of VAR,” he said.
“They have made a mistake and now they’re trying to cover it up. It’s a red card. Everyone can see it’s a red card.”
